Here is a simple way to setup a bending effect for small tasks like this one without the need of using rbd simulation.
the bending is driven by velocity, so the more the faster the object to hit will leave a big bend. and to register the hit i used a sop solver, with the advantage of registering multiple objects hits.
there are other ways for sure, but hope you guys like it! enjoy.
by the way the first one is just displacements driven by color to push the points
the second is using just a single rock which I know where it will hit and freeze the frame right after the bending starts.
the third one is where the good stuff exists.
